Giovanna Adelizzi spent twenty years in Lombardy, where she built a brilliant career as General Director of a pharmaceutical company. In 2019, she was chosen as Forbes Woman of the Year and received the Women Value Company Award, achieving complete professional fulfillment. Nevertheless, she wanted to return to her roots and devote herself to a new project in her homeland.

She did not want the tradition carried on by her family since 1923 to be lost, but at the same time she was striving for innovation. The knowledge of nature that had been passed down from generation to generation in her family inspired Giovanna to create a project that tells her story, that of her family and her origins: Luce di Sorrento. This niche project is the result of extensive research work, also carried out in collaboration with the academic world.

The lemons of their homeland are present in all Luce di Sorrento neurocosmetics, with an exclusive component: the essential oil of Sorrento lemon. This oil, steam distilled for six hours and aged in the laboratories for months, is of the highest quality and has antioxidant properties as well as benefits for the mind. In addition, the line is the first to be authorized by the Consortium for the Protection of the Sorrento Lemon, whose aim is to preserve the territory, promote the cultivation of Sorrento lemons and protect biodiversity, since the Sorrento lemon received the IGP designation in 2000.

The Sorrento lemon is characterized by its oval shape, thick, wrinkled skin and bright yellow color. Its intensely aromatic scent and the balanced flavor of the pulp make it unmistakable. It contains a high juice content and is rich in vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that supports the immune system and promotes healthy skin. The essential oil of the Sorrento lemon is not photosensitive and free of furocoumarins.

The Sorrento lemon is grown exclusively in the municipalities of the Sorrento peninsula and on the island of Capri. According to the records of the Medical School of Salerno, it was already used therapeutically in the 4th century AD, and until the 16th century it was mainly used for medicinal purposes.

The essential oil is contained in three innovative complexes developed through research by Luce di Sorrento:
