Oribe began his career in fashion photography in the early 1980s. His looks graced the covers of international glossy magazines, and his name became a fixture in the studio routine of photographers like Steven Meisel. Together with makeup luminary François Nars, he established a look that would go on to define the 1990s: sexy, voluminous, and glamorous. During this time, Oribe collaborated with legendary fashion magazines and international brands and founded his own agency, representing talents such as Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier, Serge Normant, and many others.

A special milestone was the close collaboration with Gianni Versace. The two artists shared a deep creative connection, manifested in revolutionary print campaigns, runway shows, and iconic imagery.
