France's Normandy and urban Paris are the settings for our journey to the roots of Maison Cire Trudon, the birthplace of today's much-loved scented candles. The founder and namesake of the brand, Claude Trudon, once ran a modest shop in Paris's Rue Saint Honoré, where he sold candles and spices, among other things. The combination of these two components laid the foundation in 1643 for one of France's oldest wax manufacturers. Tireless efforts to improve manual production at home earned Cire Trudon the title of the first and only royal wax manufacturer.
